Blah blah blah blah. I'm such a horrible person because I think drawing the same thing over and over again doesn't improve your artistic skills. I know many anime and anthro artists are young. And I was once young too. I was, and still am, a bit of an anime fan. I will admit that the minimalist art of anime may improve your proportion judgement. But for adolescent anime fans to go around hijacking DeviantArt from accomplished artists is just WRONG. I was around when DeviantArt didn't have a flood of wannabe-Japanese anime clones joining up daily. That was about a year and a half ago. The Daily Favorites used to be a place of honor for artists

Nocturnal Illusion is a good game. Maybe people don't realize what makes anime good is the unique storylines and elements, not the animation usually. But yeah, for a hentai game of all things, it's got a pretty interesting plot.

chill out, dont flame people unless you have art to back it up...

youre pathetic, you know that?
After reading the last comment you left here (the one that is the second under mine. I have to agree about everyone using the Formula is getting monotonous. I too have been watching and enjoying anime for over a decade. Though I admit, I draw anthro and I am anime influenced, but I'm doing my best to create a style that is wholy mine. I admit that's how I started, but I realized nothing could differentuate my work from the hordes of others.

BTW, I only slightly disagree with your comment in your journal about "And anthro, unlike anime, doesn't have any very positive benefits." comment. I used to draw humans only, but then my girlfriend introduced me to anthro, and my style and ability has improved greatly. But, that's just me.

my two cents
Ooooh, typo, some = sum.
I'll some up some things now, because I probably won't be back for a little while. I have tried to emphasize that Japanese (as in of national origin) anime artists are very differing in their styles. I've said a bunch of times there's a world of difference between Aeon Flux and Lupin III. But the anime on DA is not differed at all, it's all a formula. I barely ever see characters looking like say, the doctor from Battle Angel Alita, or Cherry from Urusei Yatsura. It's all under the "pointy chin big eyes line for a mouth line for a nose streaky hair" formula. And the mold is that specific. I have been watching anime since I was 10 years old, so I know all different types of anime. I usually don't mean to be disrespectful, but the anime "scene" on here gets awfully monotonous. Trends come and trends go, but when they stick, and they bombard you all at once, it's time to batton down the fucking hatches.
you know whats funny...
when people like you piss off people like us...
and then we let you get away with it...
that cracks me up.

-koff-The Anthro's you are discribing are called "Neko's" most anthro artist don't draw these things. And anime art is one of the oldest styles of art in japan, and I think the style is beautiful. Please do not bash people because of their own art styles.
I also agree with Oasis. These's nothing wrong with drawing anime/anthro art, and lots of people do, the last thing people want is someone to say it isn't "art"...
Hoo boy, dropped by after watching for a little while (before signing up). I'll just pick at what I see.

Ferus, look at the character icons in your signature. How different do they look, other than by hair color?

It's a formula. Big eyes, small mouth, angular hair, and always a white shiny streak over the hair.

You did not answer Ferus' question. He asked why anime isn't art, not what makes an anime just that.

Fan art doesn't deserve DTFs because it's not your original artwork, it's copied off someone else's style.

The term "Fan Art" can be used in many different ways. If I were to draw this bottle of Mountain Dew in front of me, that could be considered fan art. If I were to do some abstract art of whatever, that could be considered fan art of whatever I just did and fan art of the abstract style, could it not? As for the "copied off someone else's style" part, that can go either. Example: I've have seen a bunch of artists do art in someone else's style of work, mostly because the said-style is oh um... popular. So it's pretty obvious that it will be seen around a lot. And on the other hand, there are plenty of artist (which should outweight the former) that do art in their own style. Sure some styles look alike in ways, but the chances of that being copied off of is slim, I say. And back to the "not your original artwork part"... I'm sorry, but I'm gonna disagree here too. While the art of whomever is done in the said-work may not belong to the artist, the art itself is.

And finally... *points to Sasha's devComment* She pretty much hit the nail on the head on what I was also thinking. That's all for now.
